About KUENZELZELLER

My work revolves around recognition and reflection. I am interested in how individual experience intersects with collective imagery. I look for these points of contact—in language, in images, in culture. Perception remains individual, and yet something shared begins to form: a zeitgeist, a collective visual language that is increasingly global in nature.

Under the name KUENZELZELLER, I work with the tools of the present on this shared memory. I navigate digital archives, reveal, and dissolve compression. I approach every image as a print—an unexchangeable document. A print states: "This was a condition of seeing, of depicting."

Proximity is a recurring motif. As a child, I observed things from the closest possible distance. That way of looking has remained: I approach my subjects with the same curiosity and move in as far as possible—towards faces, plants, or animals—without crossing into intimacy or disturbing habitats.

The use of algorithmic tools may appear fluid and instantaneous. For me, it feels less like production and more like study: I formulate, I ask—and the AI responds. I arrange, shift, and think further. In this back-and-forth, something forms between personal and collective experience.
Refinement follows: framing, color, texture, selection, sequencing.
